Augmented Reality, known as AR, is a form of virtual reality offered to brands to turn all print and physical branding in the real world into a digital, interactive experience. Virtual Reality is a term used for computer generated 3D environments that allow the user to enter and interact with synthetic environments.
The aim of Augmented Reality is to create a system in which the user will not be able to differentiate between the real world and the virtual augmentation of it.
Businesses are using AR on television, online and now on mobile as well. Mobile phones are surpassing desktops dramatically making it the best and most personal way to reach users. It would become rather vital to offer this virtual experience in a mobile setting. In future, it could be the main way to reach users through augmented reality.
This is an example of #AR on mobile devices.

Another example AR on mobile created for 'Habitat for Humanity'
This project consisted of us creating an iphone application which allowed the user to scan a specific room in the dollhouse. Each room was allocated a specific number. For example, if you scanned room number 5, a 'play' button will appear on your iphone which will play a video from room 5
Another example AR - MTN Branch Locator
A user just scans the environment and using geolocator the app can show the user where the nearest branches are.

AR can enhance product previews such as allowing a customer to view what's inside a product's packaging without opening it. Scanned images of products can activate views of additional content such as customization options and additional images of the product in its use. Here is a LIVE EXAMPLE of AR which we added on our 8Brand business cards. Just hold the card to the screen and watch how the 3D graphic comes up. This is an example of computer-based AR.
Here is the back of our 8brand business card if you dont already have it. Just print it out and try it!.
